Hey friends! So a couple of more days until 2017 and I'm pretty excited. The end of the year is certainly a time for reflection which I definitely embrace. Although my family and I always brought in the new year in a celebratory manner, my dad was never really one to like the holiday. He always tells me the same thing during this time of the year. In his wise words he explains that we shouldn't wait until a new year to make a change or celebrate. There is always a new month, week, day and we always have any time we wish to start over, and I completely agree with my dad.
I'm pretty type A so making list and planning is totally in my nature so when the new year rolls around I certainly make it a priority to set goals for myself and review the goals I had the pervious year. Not even going to lie, some of my goals always roll onto the next. For example in my list I always have 'learn Italian' but I can barely say thank you. The reason I have yet to learn Italian fluently is because I never put in place a strategy to keep my goals up.
I thought about sharing my goals with you for 2017 but I decided it was too private but I want to give you some tips to make sure you accomplish the goals you set. I was so happy that most of my resolutions for 2016 were checked off my list. So here are some of my tips for you, so this time next year you can be able to keep up your goals (list is down below).

1. SET REALISTIC GOALS
I now this might be obvious but its not! I think we are always being told we can do whatever we set our mind to which we can however, they never tell you how you can do it. Well its because before you can get to point C you need point A and Point B. For example if your goal is to run a marathon before that can happen you should make a goal to run a 5k or even to just develop a runners lifestyle so you can reach your goal of actually running a marathon.
2. MAKE SHORT TERM GOALS AND LONG TERM GOALS
I think this tip helps me the most, I always like to check up on myself and see how I'm doing. So when the half way mark rolls (June) I always look back to see how I'm doing and sometimes I have met my goals by then so I try to just keep developing from then on.
3. SHARE YOUR GOALS WITH SOMEONE
Goals can make us very vulnerable, it may be something you are dealing with internally that you wish to change about yourself that might not be obvious to others. So when it comes time to share it can be a bit of a cringe moment BUT in order for you succeed you need to have someone else accountable. For example if your goal is to develop a healthier lifestyle but you keep it to yourself no one is going to understand why you keep turning down that fifth piece of pizza or why you skip dessert or can't meet up with someone because your at the gym. Sharing your goals with those closest to you can help them help you reach those goals.
4. WRITE THEM DOWN
You remember more when you write things down. Its true and I know its different now because we have so much technology around us that the art of picking up a pen is unnecessary but it helps me to keep my goals real.
5. FORGIVE YOURSELF
Guys we slip up! It happens! It happens so much and that's okay!!
I always remember what my dad has told me, you always have a new month, week and day. You can always start again and continue to improve. I will have to say that you should also remember only because you slipped up once doesn't mean you entire goal is thrown out the window.
For example: if you goal is to loose weight but you slipped up one day by eating pizza remember that whole day isn't lost so don't continue eating bad
